“You inspire us to ‘find Beauty’---everywhere!”
I’ve been writing and sharing the beauty around us on Glimsen for several years now. I do it for two reasons: 1) my sense of purpose and 2) my readers.
Whenever I get a comment like the one above, it gives me a lift. And when readers and friends tell me that they are finding beauty in their lives because of Glimsen, it gives me great delight.
Through the years, several of you have gone even further by sending me pictures. You often say, “This made me think of you and Glimsen.”
So, today, I am putting the spotlight on you and your photos of summer beauty. Thank you for sharing them. Send me more! I love to receive them and may use them in a future post.
The first photo is the one above. It’s Charlie M’s favorite trail. He sent it to me in response to my question on the Glimsen Facebook page, “Do you have a path or trail that you love?” I love that the light looks green. And look at all those ferns!
Here are the rest of the reader photos:
Frank caught this hawk perched right beside his deck one morning. Fully aware of Frank’s presence, the hawk sat there for quite a while anyway. Posing, maybe?
Rosemary said her photo of this basket of beauty was “inspired by Glimsen.” I’m inspired by it every time I see it. What a bounty of color.
Lisa bought some grocery store flowers that opened up fully once she put them in water. She sent this to me and wrote, “Fun that friends think of you when they enjoy beauty!”
My sister was taking a walk in the parking lot on her lunch hour. She noticed these plants, their bright green leaves with purple veins, and stopped to admire the unexpected color combination. She thought of Glimsen and sent me the photo.
Would any of these people say that these beauty sightings changed their life? Probably not, but that doesn’t negate the importance of it in our lives—not only the beauty but the Source of it.
Where does beauty come from? If you haven’t thought about it, it’s a question worth asking—maybe the next time you walk down a shady path lined with ferns. Or when you stare at the fine feathers and sharp eyes of a hawk, or the colors of bell peppers, the intricately-wrapped petals of a flower, or the shape and details of a plant’s leaves.
And if you do ask yourself that question, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. Just leave a comment or email me.
In the meantime, friends, enjoy the beauty of summer and let know what you discover along the way.
