My friends’ house looked gorgeous and welcoming as always. A large bouquet with some of my favorite flowers stood in the center of a round table filled with yummy foods and desserts. A few of my family members, as well as our gracious hostess, put on some last-minute touches.
Everything was ready when the doorbell rang. My heart leapt. It was time!
More friends and family arrived, with wide smiles and big hugs. When we gathered in the family room, I talked about the project I’d been working on for months: Glimsen, my blog and website. I explained what the name means: Glimsen, a Middle English term, is “to shine faintly with a wavering light, to glimmer. To give a glimpse of.”
So, at Glimsen, I share glimpses of the beauty around us in nature, the arts, and the unexpected.
Beauty is all around us, but we often don’t see it, or hear it, or enjoy it. The more I became aware of it, the more I saw and the richer my life became with it. And the more I wanted to share it with others, starting with friends and family that summer morning.
After a quick tour of the website, group photos, and more noshing, Glimsen was officially launched.
Today
After roughly 215 posts, thousands of photos, countless hours, a few tears, and lots of joy, I am celebrating my three-year anniversary. On this occasion, I’d like to say two things:
1. Yay!!
and
2. Thank you. Thank you for reading, sharing, liking, and commenting on the blog and social media posts. I enjoy beauty on my own, but the whole point of Glimsen is to share it with others, with you. So thank you!
Some News
In honor of the anniversary, I have some new things to tell you about:
· We freshened up the website with new photos and updated pages. Check it out here.
· We have developed a new gift of beauty for you. (I’m especially proud of it because my daughter designed it.) I’ll be releasing it soon, so keep an eye out for it.
· Several weeks ago, I announced that I’m now a regular contributor at Art and the Kingdom. You can read my first post here and my second one will be up soon. I’ll let you know when it’s posted.
Looking Ahead
I’m excited to have several other new things coming in the months ahead.
In the meantime, check out the updated site, and please share or comment on the blog or social media. That way, more people can discover Glimsen and add glimpses of beauty to their lives, too.
What’s your favorite Glimsen post? What kinds of Glimsen posts do you like most (nature, the arts, the unexpected)? After there any topics that you’d like for me to cover in future blog posts?
